We were taken up a steep dirt road to Mae Salong, to visit one of the hill tribes descended from Chinese immigrants. The women wear elaborate costumes consisting of leggings and silver-beaded headdresses. Although their lifestyle is quite primitive, the government provides them with water and electricity, and schools for their children.
