We left Bangkok for Kanchanaburi, some 60 miles away. Along the way, Ray stopped to visit relatives of a friend who operate a coconut candy factory on a small plantation. The sap from coconut flowers is collected and boiled down—something like maple syrup—to create a unique candy.
