We left Los Angeles on 11 December 2003 on a fourteen-hour flight to Tokyo, crossing the International Date Line in mid-Pacific.

After a two-hour wait at Narita Airport near Tokyo between flights, we flew on to Bangkok, arriving at about 11:00 p.m. local time on the next day. We were met at the airport by Viraphan ("Ray") Dechpong, our Thai guide, who had arranged a bus to our hotel near the airport.

After breakfast the next morning, it was back to the airport for a one-hour hop to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where we were met by Chhay Hak Long ("Long"), who was our guide for the Cambodian extension of our adventure. We had lunch at a local restaurant...

...then checked in to our modern hotel.

The afternoon was given to walking about the city and drinking in the many unfamiliar sights...

...including one of Prince Sihanouk's homes.

We visited a craft school where teenagers learn traditional art forms.

That night, we enjoyed a dinner show at a local restaurant, featuring traditional Cambodian music and dance...
