Getting to the house was not the end of the trail: there was still a little bit farther to climb. When we got to the top, the clouds parted and we were rewarded by this mist-shrouded view of the ruins of Machu Picchu. Then we turned around and...

...took this neat picture of the pointed summit of Huayna Pichhu some 20 feet or so farther up the trail. Wow, what a great experience! What a wonderful sense of accomplishment!

There was another mountain rhododendron growing at the summit.

Sylvia rehydrates and rests before descending. It takes us less than half the time to climb down the mountain as it did to climb up.

We reach the ruins and stop to take a picture of this fountain, made a bit stronger by the rain.
