The sacred mountain of Huayna Pichhu rise in the background. Notice a small building in the upper left, near the peak. Sylvia and I make plans to climb the mountain the next day!

The Intiwatana stone, not a sundial, but sometimes called the place to which the sun was tied. It was used for astronomical purposes.

I surprise Sylvia as she hikes down from the Intiwatana Pyramid. Don James is in the foreground. Nelida and June Webb are in the background.

We gather at the Sacred Rock, flanked by wayronas. The Rock is carved to resemble the shape of the mountains in the distance. Unfortunately, on this day the clouds obscure the view of the mountains...but their shape is clear in the stone.

In the background, note the road up the mountain. This is the narrow, slippery, mountain road with hairpin turns that the bus navigated on its way up to Machu Picchu!
