After lunch, the group walks to Plaza Mayor. The eastern side of the square is dominated by the Cathedral.

In the center of the square is a magnificent 17th century bronze fountain. Children play in it.

Women use the water to cool their hands and arms.

Men wash their faces and throw water on their hair. Obviously, the fountain is not just a beautiful artifact, but a living part of the city's daily life.

On the southern side of the square is the Municipalidad de Lima (City Hall). A brightly uniformed soldier stands guard.
