Barbara Case, together with her friend Sylvia Zapata, begin a ten-day Overseas Adventure Travel vacation in Peru. We arrive in the middle of the night, are picked up at the airport, and transferred to our hotel in Lima, Peru. In the morning, we explore our beautiful hotel and have breakfast.

Our room overlooks a lovely courtyard with tropical plants and a fountain.

After breakfast, we meet as a group for the first time in a small conference room on the fourth floor of the hotel. There are fourteen of us, and we come from all different parts of the United States, including Florida, California, New York, Ohio, Washington, Minnesota, Vermont, and Tennessee.

We meet our tour leader, Leylys de la Rosa Gutierrez, who gives us an overview of how our trip will unfold over the course of the next nine days. We do not know it at this point, but we will all soon discover that Leylys is one of the finest tour guides that any of us could ever imagine. In the coming days, we will all grow very fond of Leylys. We will learn what a remarkable human being he is and we will all be completely won over by his extraordinary mind, caring soul, and kind heart.

After the meeting, we look down from the fourth floor to the courtyard below. We do not know it at this point, but we have a magnificent adventure ahead of us! And most amazing of all, during our adventure, this small group of strangers will evolve into a caring family of friends.
