Charles and Stella did a private toast before the formal speeches began.

Herb started off the evening of tributes by presenting his father with a large celebration notebook prepared by all Charles' children and grandchildren. The book gathers together memories, vignettes, poems, photographs and statements of heartfelt emotion and love. Herb continued with a memorable speech overflowing with gratitude, praise and devotion.

Next, Dennis added to the speeches by reading some of the vignettes he wrote for his father's celebration notebook. In particular, the small essay entitled, The Little Chair, had the entire group in glistening tears.

Dennis showed his father the photograph of the little chair.

All of us gathered to listen to these tributes will never forget the glow on his face and the moisture his eyes as he listened to his children and grandchildren signing his countless praises!
